Hello all

I know that this has been asked before and this maybe something or nothing but feel better asking about it rather then ignoring it. I am 28 years old and have quite heavily dyslexia epically in short team memory but have been working hard and now have a good job and have been managing well. Over the past year or so I have noticed that when I try to read things the letters move about more than they have done and I have been really struggling to concentrate some times. I have also began to have some random nervous ticks with my head jerking to the side and have found that I am being quite short tempered and moody for no reasons sometimes. I am sure this will be nothing but don’t know if anyone else have anything similar?

Many thanks :D

This is a common issues, normally due to stress or lack of sleep.

Try and relax and generally look after yourself and you should find things go back to normal. On the moving words front, you might be expirencing eye strain. When my eyes get strained/tired then the words move about more. Sleep well, spend less time looking at computor screans, take regular breaks from reading and look around the room, don't read in over lit envirmoments (soft lighting is actually better for your eyes) and if that doesn't work go see your optician. You might need contacts or glasses. You might consider trying out coloured glasses or overlays, as it sounds like you might have dyslexias friend, scoptic senitivity. A specific coloure and reducing glare usually reduces the symptoms. I can explain more on this if you like.

The trouble is you can get stressed from noticing the symptoms of stress, and it becomes a vicouse circle. Try and chill out and take some time for yourself. If it becomes a percistant problem I can recomend doing 15 minuets of something like listening to music, yoga or even knitting on a dayly basis. Anything that relaxes you and takes your mind away from other things for a while.

I agree with Bubble. Stress and anxiety can affect dyslexic issues. My dyslexia always seems more prominent when I am tired or stressed.
Try and get plenty of rest and try to relax.

Yep I would go with stress too.

My Ophthalmic Optician went on about it and how it just gets worse unless you tackle the causes.
For me it was posture(not dropping my head), distance to the page(not having it too close), and resting(not staring at the page/screen endlessly).
My nice green glasses also have an adjustment to make me lift my head and push the page further away.
I also have some exercises that help with focusing (I have a slight problem with that between my eyes fighting for control).

All that said, stress in general is also something we seldom notice but it eats away at us.
